i have an original Midi cable from mackie, but i still cannot activate the HUI mode , it says HUI MODE ON in yello, but when i press the hui mode , it says hui channel offline, how can i turn it online, i did everything you guys said, like swapping cards, rebooting, battery check, but nothing seems to work, it there any option

i really want to use my d8b as a controller in cubase, using the jog wheel and the 8 faders

You have to add a HUI device in Cubase.

  • Go to Devices>Device Setup... The device setup window will pop up.
  • Select Remote Devices in the left window.
  • Click on the [+] button and add Mackie HUI.
  • Now set the MIDI Input and MIDI Output ports to the ones that are connected to you d8b.
  • Click Apply and OK.

Now your HUI would be Online.

Do you have timecode display on the d8b and does it track cubase timecode?

If you have no timecode on the d8b display, one or both of two things will be the problem.

1. You haven't enabled the transmission of Midi Time Code (MTC) in Cubase

and/or

2. Your Opcode device doesn't recognize MTC and therefore doesn't transmit or more correctly, pass it thru to the d8b.

BTW, if that's an Opcode MIDI card in the d8b, I'm surprised it works at all given that the driver in the software is for a Winman 1x1.

What device are you using on your computer where Cubase resides to deal with MIDI?
