Hey Crash

I'm sure things are coorect. Here is how I have it setup;

Digital I/O: PDI-8, slots 1, 2 & 3, no concersion, set to PRO
MIDI: All Machine ID set to "0", Generate MTC (Yes), Send MMC (Yes). Generate SPMTE (No), Frame Rate (29FPS)
Sync: Word Clock (BNC), Sampling Rate 44.1Kh, Bit Depth 16, "Lock" LED eluminated on HDR

Any thoughts on if I missed something?

Are your ports properly selected? Example: channel 1 on D8B routed to a track to be recorded?

Hi KRSTUDIO;

Yes routing is correct. A signal is seen on the meeters of the HDR and that signal is heard as a return path on the D8B.

When I press RECORD (on the D8B, or HDR front Pnel, or on the GUI) the HDR doesn't go into Record. The LED's above the transport controls (RR, FF, Stop, Play & Rec) do not light up at any time. Whether the HDR is connected to the D8B or not.

Setup seems t be correct.

Thanks for any advise or help.

OK, so you have ruled, out the d8b and clocking issues with the "lock" light on the HDR, though the clicking still wreaks of clocking trouble. I think it is time to look at the BIOS settings of the HDR.

I assume you have the MIDI cables going both directions between the d8b and HDR?

Hi Crash;

BTW, thanks for all you help!

Yes to the MIDI cables and the signal is going to and from the HDR. Transport function (except Record), Time code comes back to the D8B. Locates work. Scrub works. All seems correct.

Bios has been checked and is set as per Mackie's outline. And yes the Ticking screams of clocking but why on some tracks and not all? Very weird!

Do you have what the "Real World" has dedided should be the BIOS settings?

I'm going to perform Surgery tonight on the HDR and open her up. I'll start by replacing the battery, then reset the Bios as well as cleaning the contacts from the Transport control to the mother board. Sew her up. Give her some power, me a drink, and see what happens.

let you know how it turns out.

Thanks again.

It is not unusual to have the clicking and popping be on random tracks and not all in regards to clocking problems.

I believe the BIOS settings for the HDR are the same as the 300 MHZ d8b motherboard if I recall correctly. Yep, here it is:

If you don't get this sussed out, you may want to contact Mike Rivers. He knows more about the HDR side of things than about anybody I can think of and he may be of more help if you need to go inside and do anything major.

Mr Crash;

Thnaks for the Bios setting info. I already had it but it never hurts to have it on file.

I didn't change the battery after all as it was a new one on January of this year. The Bios is exactly a specified in the Bios Sheet.

I cleaned some of the connectors, reseated them fired it up and the "Error 43" came up. Shut it down. Counted to 10 and turned her on and "it's alive". Still has all the same problems but it lives.

I have sent an Email to the company I purchased the HDR from. Just waiting to hear back.

I have seen Mike Rivers name on quite a bit of HDR documentation. Any idea how I get hold of him?

Thanks again Crash!
