I will definitively throw some dollars into the pot for this feature! Count me in for 200 USD at least.

Just curious (didn't see the answer when searching): Howcan I switch back and forth between the d8b layers and this DAW controller function? Is it a switch, a re-patching, or something like that HUI-layer (shift/master) procedure?

Hey guys,

Good news: Today, I've got a meeting with my good friend Frank, he's a software developer. I'm taking my d8b to his place for further investigation, even if my 11th fader is stucked. That doesn't keep us from writing the software fortunately! We'll start by doing the 24 faders and pan pots. Afterwards, the meters (shouldn't be too hard, I've got a prototype for everything already!). I'll try to have a look at the monitoring section, it'd be great if we could still control the volume using the 2 tracks returns... Even better if we could keep a few functions (Talkback mics, etc). But that'd be the icing on the cake!

Thanks guys for all the infos on the stuck fader problem, I'll fix it once we're done with the software.

Cheers all,

Marc

Marc,

If all your using of the data cable is the half that is going to control the funtions for a DAW, then couldn't a hub box with 2 25pin connectors & 1 RS232 Connector be used to pass the DSP through to the console? That way we can still make use of the DSP. Then if possible make the hub switchable to go back & fourth between DAW controller & stock D8B. Not too sure if that's possible but it is a desirable feature.

So, Frank had a take on the d8b yesterday night... Right away, we found a better way to address the meter bridge. We worked on the serial protocol some more and I'm happy to report that we'll have a meter bridge that'll be at least 2 to 3 times faster than the demo I posted on YouTube a few weeks ago. My meter bridge demo worked fine and could've been a workable solution but Frank's solution is faster and can do full meter bridge updates with less serial commands! That's good because we need to preserve the serial bandwidth as much as we can... I'll keep you guys updated!

Some common curiosity brewing here about the feasibility of making the serial interface (possibly MIDI too) switchable (by software or physically) between the d8b CPU and the DAW serial interface. Is it possible that the entire desk could be switched between DAW interface and d8b CPU interface with a multipin serial switch box?

Is this in the realm of possibility?

I'm assuming that accommodating Mac DAWs is out of the question.

Great work being done here, can't wait for this!!! Will this be limited to a single DAW?
