Really nice Tele James... you keep moving brother! Lots of tone combos in that one huh?

I would love to see the tele custom (w/b-bender and effects (???)) when you getter done. How ya gonna fit echo, distortion, tremolo, and all sorts of stuff in there? Have you been talking to Harry over at Gibson???

Michael

Michael,

I've already done most of the routing for all the "stuff." It's done on the back of the guitar. I have to make custom covers to fit over the cavities, except for the b bender. The preamp, distortation and echo units are not that large. It will also have a ton of concentric knobs/pots with two 9v batteries. I'm sure thast it will also be heavy. I had to take out a lot of wood so I'm sure that it will not sound like a typical tele. I'm hoping we can get a break in the weather so I can get back in the garage and finish up. It's cold as hell here in Florida.

The tele pictured is a design from a luthier in Nashville for the great Brent Mason. It combines the sounds of a Les Paul, Stratocaster and Telecaster. And the added preamp gives an additional 21dB plus a little grit when cranked up.

Anyway, since the beginning, I have been taking pics of my progress and will post them on my website when I am done with it. I'll let you know when that time is present. Take care.

Okay sounds good - Hey everybody it's the James and Mike show!!!

Getting back on topic... there is so much information at the Mackie forum site... yep, and I am guessing by Dan’s account, almost ten years worth of information, lots of conversation and a ton of posts, I have gotten entrenched in those posts more than once. I am not sure how much has gotten “trimmed” over the years, but that’s a lot of words.

It was a bit of a joke, Peter. A play on the topic. It's just that it's such a mess over there. :)

I'm sure they have no interest in keeping open and monitoring the forum, I also think that the guys that run it have no interest what-so-ever in the D8b...maybe they're too young to know what it is and i'm sure many have not even worked on it!

Sad, but I don't even go there anymore. I can't post there. It won't let me.

For those who can post over there, please make sure you bump the thread about this forum from time to time so people are aware of this place.

Peter C, I thought that was funny, but I wouldn't doubt it.

c-ya,

Just as a matter of mentioning, I found the database over there by doing a search but I don't know where it is. That is to say, I don't know what page it's on. There's 540 odd pages over there now. I tried to bump it but it still has sticky status, wherever it is, so it wouldn't budge. It's kinda pointless anyway since the URL index and in fact, any links are absolutely useless because the "new" forum software only allows 10 posts per page whereas the old allowed 35. Consequently the URL addresses are kaput. That'd be a nightmare to rectify. Glad we have it here.
