Hi Tyler,

Could not see the image on my end here  maybe you need a space in there or something?

Try re-setting (re-seat...sorry) your midi card also try and see if another midi device will send data to the d8b to see if it receives it, it might be the sender and not the d8b.

Hope this helps,

Michael

Hello Tyler.

To find out why your d8b is not receiving MIDI signals, read this article.

Your image link do not work because you have to include a full URL. As for example: http://www.any_domain.com/images/your_pic.jpg.

To use this method you should previously upload the picture to a server in a public location.

You can also upload an image to the forum using the Upload attachment tab, below the Save draft, Preview and Submit buttons.

I take it your famed MIDI map does not work then as I cannot see how using those crappy Behringer controllers compares. From forums I have seen they do not have a very good reputation and there is very little visual feedback. I think you need to make your mind up as you seem to keep skip from it being a perfect setup to looking for other controllers!

I cannot see how having a bunch of cheap MIDI controllers stacked together compares. You would be better of with an MCU and two extenders if thats what you really want. However with the D8B you also have 48 channels of audio as well and for me that means the ability to route loads of outboard without loading my Mac's audio interface more.

I have been using HUI coupled with a Novation Zero SL MKII (which has a great MIDI template system that I have mapped all my Logic plugins to and it auto loads templates when a plugin is loaded).

For me it generally works great and the only addition I will probably do is map 24 faders into Bank 4 to have quick access to 24 soft instrument volumes for mixdown but use HUI for fine adjustments such as Pan etc.

Yes, now you just need to fix your d8b. Did you changed the battery?

Nigel C: actually my midi map does work but you know a dedicated midi controller is now more what im looking for as I only used my d8b for a virtual patchbay on the audio side... Also As I stated before in that my d8b wont receive midi so what point is having a fully automated console tht isnt automated??? atleast for the bcf's and bcr's hooked together its like a kids ICON. I am possibly buying these covers for them too.

Someone on gearslutz is claiming to make them and I thought it would be kool to have a huge console.
So with the desk and everything this console will be about 6 foot with 32 faders, and 128 encoders

Basically I am tired of all the problems with my d8b... my midi os mod is unstable (ive had my os crash 4 times but its not really a big deal) My midi card is basically useless... and I have A nice PSU humming in the background that I wouldnt be surprised if it died tommorrow considering I have the old model (166Mhz i think) If I keep it I will be maybe doing The mod that the other person on the forum is doing. I sent him a message asking him if he knows the watts it takes to run the board because I want to run my d8b straight from the serial port... if that was possible id keep it.

I dont post much here anymore because anytime I do I get bashed on for my OS mod being fake. but whatever Ill release it when Im done (which if I give up on the d8b will just be the glitchy one..)

This will be my last post for a lil (unless I get around to it) Going in for some training on the Digidesign D-Show :D

This is what I would need out of it and the cost for this is (with used ebay prices) $3,580 as the Bcf's would only be $1700.... I think ill save the 2000 it would cost me to have screens and buy something like a used control 24 off craigslist

You know, Tyler, I just wanted you to justify your claim, ie., show some proof.

Anyway, your future moves are your decision. Remember one little adage, though: "You gets what you pays for".

Good luck. I liked the sound of your music in the background.

Your CPU hum might just be as simple as a cooling fan running noisy. I replaced mine and they were a lot quieter (I initially thought it was the hard drive). However I still have an issue with the fan occasionally making noise and its the vibration between the fan housing and the heatsink so am looking for a solution if anyone has one (some kind of silicon pads maybe)?
