POLL: Choose the style for the board

Postby Petersueco » Sat Jan 22, 2011 4:16 pm

Hello everybody !

I plan to change the boards style (again) with a new variation of the Absolution style, that for the moment, is the default style for the forum.

I need your opinion about the new one. This new style is the reason I did the meter icons and has been updated to the newest version of Absolution.

To try this new style follow these steps:

1) Enter your User Control Panel
2) Click on the Board preferences tab.
3) Click on the Edit global settings tag.
4) Go to My board style and select d8b from the pull down menu.
5) Click Submit.

Thanks for your vote.

I prefer the blue, Peter but hey, as long as there's a choice.

I haven't voted yet. The blue is more pleasing, but I am leaving the d8b for a while to see if it grows on me. Typically for me, I can like something straight away and then it loses its flare, where something that doesn't hit me between the eyes ends up being better and better. This is the long way to tell you I have not made up my mind.

I thought the idea with the color scheme was to match up the forum colors with the d8b colors. My d8b is not these earth tones I see here. Maybe I am misinformed about the intent.

Today, I will work on getting a minimum recording setup at the new place. It has been too long since I have set something down at my own place. Wish me luck, it is a struggle to work through the emotions.

All is well,
Michael

Yes, that was the idea. I've clearly missed the right choice of colors. Maybe, my d8b, as it had been in a non smoke free studio, is a little bit brownier. :P

When I started to use the brown style during the testing I didn't like it very much. But now I have tried to go back to be blue one and I always end up returning to the brown.

Please leave you vote once you know for sure with style you like better.

Hi Peter

I will tell you that it don't matter to me what colors it is
because I tell you you have done a fantastic job of putting this forum together
and now we all have you to thank for that. and to be honest with you its a lot better than the
other d8b forum. and this is so true since mackie has went and changed everything around.
so peter any choice or color you make it I will be happy with it.
everything you have done so fare looks good to me. and remember we all thank you for this forum.

It's really hard to pick just one because I like them all.

Well I voted and tip the scales toward.... d8b. Just as I suspected, kinda like a Joe Walsh tune, it didn't hit me straight away, but I grew to prefer it over the blue. Now the default blue seems so "average" compared to the brown d8b style. Anyway, thought I would mention it. Also the quotes look better in the d8b style imo.

my .02,
Michael

My d8b isn't shades of brown. It's shades of grey thru to black.

Oh well, I don't mind. I'll try the brown again.

I do like some of the facilities on the brown version... drop down stuff etc.

There's kind of an anomaly in the header.

In Safari, my preferred browser, it has a "?" and dividing line, thus:

but in Firefox it seems OK, thus:

Dunno what that means???

Do you see any file name if you Hoover over the ? symbol? I think it's Safari that mises to load the left edge of the header, the picture that makes the header round on the left bottom corner.

The white line is because the side pic is missing. I also get that line during the page load, but after it completes the load it goes away. I'm on Firefox BTW.

Let's see what I can do about it.
