Thanks again, Peter. Your step by step instructions were invaluable. I've been trying to figure this out for weeks. Everything works except the Solos. Which I understand are not mappable. But if anyone has any methods on mapping channel selects, that would at least make the board a pretty decent midi controller (even if there is a giant old PC humming in the background).

Please let us know if you have any tips on mapping the channel selects and thank you in advance!

I thought solos were mappable.

One thing you could try is to record a sequence in Logic whereby midi Sysex is not filtered, ie., recordable. Press one solo button and one channel select button and see if any data is recorded. If it does get recorded, it will be in a hex string format. This gets wild but I've dealt with it before. If you understand hex then you can get some stuff happening. You may have to read a bit about midi strings but it's out there in googleface :). I've used strings to program a Peavey PC 1600 to control the d8b but it's one of those things you forget after achieving the desired result. Just a thought.

BTW, I think you'll find that if you have the mutes programmed (mapped) correctly, operation of solo on the d8b will automatically work because the solo function just mutes all channels other than those soloed. It may not light the solo button in Logic but the function will have been performed. Hey, life is full of compromises :)

BTW2, you can FTP your midimap to your computer. You don't need a floppy.

OK, I've got the Solo buttons working. Peter, I think you were right. They just automagically work once the mutes are mapped. The only thing I cannot figure out for the life of me is the Selects. This is the one thing that drives me crazy because without scribble strips, I have no idea where I'm at on the board. Has anyone found a way to midi map the d8b channel select button? if so, how on earth did you do it?

Also, Peter, how do can FTP from the d8b CPU to get the midi map off? I'd gladly share what I have.
