jumpy faders (screen only)

Postby yeskeys » Wed Nov 10, 2010 4:48 pm

Doing a mix last nite. I moved one fader, and about 5 others jumped up to the maximum position, affecting the audio as well. The corresponding hardware faders didn't move at all. They would jump up to full and then sporadically jump around while I was moving the single hardware fader.
Recommendations? thanks!

Have you done a fader calibration lately?

You may also double check the Console Data cable at both ends.

Thanks! I'll try the calibration - it's in the manual, correct?

best,

The calibration procedure is only available from the Mix Options Setup window on the screen.

Peter: "on the screen"....
Do you mean the onboard plasma screen or the external monitor screen? I swear I couldn't find any reference to calibrating my faders on my external monitor. I'll look again as I suppose it's possible I missed it (d8b is at the studio and I don't get there often enough)...
plz clarify if possible.
Thanks,
Eric

Sometimes i experience the same problems with the faders. Move one and a set of 8 will move on their own.

I tried the following and helped a lot. While the d8b is switched off, i sprayed some compressed air duster in the fader crevice moving your hand along the fader. Thencalibrate 3-4 times. I always cover the d8b with a dust cover to prevent dust going into the fader crevices. I make sure that i calibrate twice everytime i switch on the d8b. Since then the jumping faders have dissapeared.
