Tape in switch

After more than 25 years work my Tape In switch has partially collapsed, it still works, it's not the same as the other switches like mute etc, I'm trying to remember what it looks lick underneath, I've had this board out before and I can't remember if the push part comes loose when out or if it's attached to the main switch itself, a repair is imminent one day, anyone remember what it looks like?

Hi Phil,

I replaced a couple of buttons on one of mine with this. The ones I needed were the large plain buttons, so a quick application of a scouring pad removed the lettering.

Thanks guys, the switch has two hinged parts, looks like one has broken, easy enough to fit a new one but time consuming taking everything apart!

Now if only I could find 12 of those little black screws between the faders etc as they went missing with a strip down a couple of years ago, the guy that I'm getting the buttons from has lots of bits and pieces but no screws!

According to the BOM - page A-11 of the D8B Service Manual, the parts are button head socket screws (700-011-00 & 700-011-01). The 700-011-00 1/4" screws seem readily enuff available - I seem to be having an issue locating the 700-011-01 3/16" screws anywhere... there's a caveat listed in the manual for these parts as well :

"NOTE: when removing these screws from the console, make sure that you do not mix them up. You must not put the longer screws where the shorter ones go. Refer to the assembly instructions chapter if in doubt"

I only did a quick web search, but that's a bit concerning if the 3/16" screws are required... may just a little more time to locate...

As a last resort the 1/4" screws can be cut down, but time consuming!

Hi Phil,

Just bear in mind that they are not a metric thread size. The original screws are 4-40 UNC thread.
I got them from here, and as they didn't have the right length, I trimmed them down. Looks as though they have got the right length back in now...
