Narr being serious about it, the d8b is a complicated piece you need to experiment with. you did a great job .
but i still have one problem that remains and that my HUI CHANNEL is offline, tried everything still no luck ,

My mute buttons are my main concern as I have to click them twice and I really cant solve it yet but I just mapped out the track arming so it made my recording session so much easier the other day. It feels amazing bringing this beast from the grave and giving it the same controls as the digidesign c24 without the pricetag

Tyler I would appreciate if you share how you overcame the MIDI resolution issue. Did you play with the "Resolution of Relative Controls" slider in Logic or something else? As every time I have tried to use Pan via D8B to Logic it jumps due to mismatch of MIDI versus D8B resolution.

I have asked everywhere and most users on boards say they do not use MIDI control on the D8B or do not seem to know much about MIDI Maps or HUI. So please share!

Hold the shift button while using any function including pan for finer resolution.

I am not sure how that helps, is that not for the resolution of D8B controls? I am talking about the MIDI control of a DAW and the known resolution mismatch of D8B. I am starting to wonder though whether this mismatch only occurs when trying to control the D8B from the DAW and not the other way round? Can someone shed light?

And if Tyler ever views this again please tell me how you got it to work right?

Hey guys they way I overcame that is with logics ability to tell how many midi steps you want. It was actually pretty simple. The problem I am having now is that I couldnt switch from 1-24 to the next 1-24 in logic because my console isnt considered a console in logic./... its just a bunch of midi learned functions. so last night I mapped out my board completely so I now have a complete control of 96 channels... now I guess I am having easier knowledge of this is because I did alot of midi programming on a digidesign venue system for midi support with protools. keep asking questions cuz I love the feedback :D thx

Hey is this the global setting called "Resolution of Relative Controls" or is this accessed in the control surfaces prefs?

Much respect for a 15 year old cracking this. At your age (admittedly many years ago) I had only learned how to use my first synth (an Italian Siel Mono Synth) and mixing desks and MIDI were still out of my reach umtil I got my first polysynth with a built-in hardware sequencer (a Roland JX3P).

I have many years MIDI programming experience but mostly on hardware gear so my knowledge of Logic is mostly self taught over the last year. As for the D8B, only had this just over a year too and it has been a long hard road getting all my gear to sync, route etc! Mind you with two kids and a missus that won't let me disappear for hours on end finding the extra hours to spend problem solving is hard!

i got it to work by going into each individual learned assignment and changing the value and im actually doing it right now :) here is the area where you adjust this setting (hopefully this pic uploads right) I personally think that logic and the d8b are going to work alot better than cubase and d8b because from my understanding cubase has no midi learn?? correct me if im wrong because I only used nuendo/cubase for a year before going to protools and logic

oh and another thing I found out today is if you hold down shift while panning it does exact values so you can go from -64 to 0 to +64 in logic but my method of rewriting is very tedious

Okay great, thanks. One more question though, when you created your set of controller assignments did you start from a blank or use a HUI setup and customise it? And how do you save this?

One answer for your Mute button question, I have a Novation Zero SL MKII which I use for plugins, I seem to remember when using MIDI for 2 stage buttons such as MUte On/Off you either need to set the MIDI type to toggle. I think the issue is that you have is that it is having to cycle 2 MIDI steps whereas what you need is an On/Off function.
