Hui Problem

hi folks,

i have two more problems.

1. besides the regular functions of the d8b i also used the desk in Hui mode in cubase 6. i have connected it via a ESI romio and it worked fine for a long time. but last week the romio died on me, so i purchased another usb midi interface. since the romio isnt available anymore i have purchsed something similiar.
the problem is, the hui mode is online. but the only thing that works is the jog weel. the buttons, the smpte display,transportbuttons and faders have no function. all that worked fine with the romio. i have absolutly no idea what is going wrong here. is it possible that this usb-midi-interface isnt fully compatible?

2.the other problem is, that sometimes (mostly when i reboot right after shutting down) the desk starts clicking and buttons start lighting up accordingly. the computer boots but it has no connection to the desk. i have found out that when the problem starts, if i grab the main wire right quick and move it a lil bit, i goes away and it boots. what the hell is that. i have read something like that in the database about some smd parts that cause it. but my english isnt good enough to fully understand it. is this something that can be fixed? it is possible for an experienced repairman to fix it, or is it only possible for mackie to fix it. or is there some kind of workaround to prevent it? or does my problem have nothing to do with this smd stuff?

"Main wire" - Is that the console power cable or the console DB25 data cable?

That's the power cable. It carries a variety of voltages from the console power supply in the CPU chassis to the console. The flakiness you are experiencing may be due to intermittent electrical contact between the pin sleeves in the power cable connector and the pins on the console connector. The intermittent power contacts are made whole when you wiggle the cable. It's best if you can arrange your power cable such that it's coming at the back of the console square and is not flexed to one side or the other or up or down to any extreme; in other words, as little strain on the connection as possible. The cable connector contacts might also benefit from a good contact cleaner, with the CPU/power supply turned off, of course. Let us know how you make out.

What make and model USB/MIDI interface became the replacement?

The D8B normally interfaces with Cubase 6 perfectly. My only question here is: what platform are you running that on? PC/Windows? Mac/OSX? Not so much for the software side but the hardware side of how MIDI is being presented to Cubase.

first off, thanks for your replies.

I will try to test that suggestion with the main connector. maybe it really helps. if i have any results on this case i´ll post it here.

about the HUI Problem: the problem was really the MIDI Interface. it wasn´t an expensive one. it was a house-brand of a local dealer here in my area. i assume it is some cheap china crap. but i cannot say at this point if it was just a lousy one or if it is defective. i have connected the d8b via my midisport 4x4 and all of a sudden the d8b did was it was supposed to.
Interesting, i have yesterday recieved my Mackie Control Unit, wich doesn´t work properly with this MIDI-interface either. Totally different symptoms but dreadful as well. In this case it is not like a few functions are not working. With the MCU it is different. the MCU appears to have severe malfunctions with it. I touch and move a fader and the mute buttons on a few other channels activate. Plus the Display is inactive. It is either defective or it doesn´t transmit all of the MIDI Protocol. seems like the Mackie Products have class and only work with "good" components.
