mackie d8b locator will not follow cubase 5

Postby mackdaddie » Thu Jul 11, 2013 9:18 pm

Hi there

just connected my d8b thru a BNC cable from my D8B cpu APOGEE like you see on the picture

. the thing is the time code on the d8b is in sync with cubase and i can controll my stuff in the d8b, , but the LOCATOR & MIX EDITOR in d8b will not move. nor the timecode in the locator & mix editor, while the timecode on the D8B mixer is working perfectly

just trying all sorts of things who can help me with this, much appreciated!

That BNC connector has never worked. You should be sending MTC from Cubase to the d8b via MIDI.

In the scheme of things, there isn't one... just chaos.

I have never used the bnc on the CPU for anything that I can think of. The BNC on the Apogee card on the console is the place to make connections. You need your midi connections as well. Do you have those hooked up in both directions?

Is Cubase set up to send and receive MTC and MMC correctly? If not, I can help you with that.

i want to work the mix editor & locator, while playing my file in cubase , as it shows in the picture
at least see the time code & editor MOVE in d8b when i press play.
hope you guys understand :)

Something looks a little funny in your screenshots of the Mix Editor and Locator. The Mix Editor is 5.1 and the Locator is 3.0. I'll assume you grabbed those from the manuals and not actual D8B generated screenshots. If you did...something is seriously wrong.

I ran Cubase 5 and 7 ( I use 7,6, 5 and 4) and the D8B's GUI Locator and Mix Editor track with Cubase either in HUI mode or not. The only thing I can suggest is to make sure HUI mode shows ONLINE in the D8B and then open the D8B's Mix Editor and Locator.

If Cubase's SYnc window is set up correctly, it should work. Does here.

@frankH yessir!, those where just screens from google hahaha. sorry bout that.

BUT!!, i got it figured out!

i have to set MASTER cubase project setup , and SLAVE to D8B, and now the timecode, midi locator and the mix editor are fully in sync with cubase.
as cubase as my master i can set & change all automation during my track.

thank you all for the support, , keep D8B alive,!

shotout to FRANKH , PETER & MARC
