Cue Mix..Not hearing sound

Postby cvtogate » Wed Mar 06, 2013 8:45 am

When plugging my headphones into the back of the headphone input I can not hear my assigned cue mix. My cue mix / with headphone input only worked once as I remember....any suggestions? Was wondering if it was a software problem or a hardware problem. My console is in great condition, faders etc...this is my only problem.

Not likely software in my opinion. Which cue did you try, 9/10...11/12? Did you try selecting "control room" or is it nothing at all coming out of the phones holes?

Yes.. I agree with Crash.. Software is unlikely to cause that issue, having said that, anything is possible so its best to rule it out. Are your headphones plugged directly into the headphone connections on the rear of the board or are they routing from a headphone amp? Check the cabling/cables to eliminate that possibility. In any case I would first choose the control room mix in the headphone monitor section and run some audio through the board. Another thing to try, is to bring up a fresh copy of the startup template as this would also default the console settings. Do this by dragging the old startup file to the men's room (yes that toilet seat on the desktop) and then reboot the console. It will create a new startup template. Play some audio through the board and try the above again.
The cue mixes should default at startup to aux 9/10 and 11/12. The should work once you select them in the headphone monitor section. Just some thoughts... Let us know how you get on :-)

Nothing at all is coming out of the outputs, tried all the combinations possible....

OscarPro1, I deleted the startup template from my session 5 folder and it kind of gave me the same settings that I had before...the pan and faders were set the same way...I just noticed that Im not getting a studio output either (dont know if its a coincidence but those jacks are right below my headphone jacks)

If the settings were the same as before you deleted then you either have "Load last session at power up" on in the settings window which should be disabled or you have more than one startup session. Please follow these instructions to start with.

If after making sure that your startup session file is in fact new from boot, and you still have the same issue, I would be thinking of a clean install after a HD format. I know its seems a little daunting at first but it's not really that difficult. The link Peter gave you will also walk you through the process, and off course we are all here should you need help.
The other thing I would say at this point is that I would also be thinking of going inside the D8B and making sure all your cable ribbon connections are seated firmly. I'd check every one of them. All the best.
