aux sends to outboard gear

Hi all, new to the forum. Have had the D8b for about a year and absolutely love it. I have a question on routing if someone has the time. How do I send a track to outboard gear and back. I am not sure how to assign a track to an aux. I see that there are 12 aux's on the back side, but I haven't figured out how to assign a track to it. I assume I could just route the affected track back thru a regular channel. Any help would be greatly appreciated. (I am trying to run a vocal channel to an outboard tc m-one xl and back to the board. thanks Brian

hi brian

first connect your outboard lets pick channel 1.send aux out to input of your out board then out of your outboard to input of channel 1.

then select aux 1 button then send the signal you need using the pan pot.be sure to switch off the LR button of the channel that you are sending out.
then bring up the signal you wish to process on channel one.

no problem.you may also explore the insert option sing a Y cable.

I usually think of an aux as a way to send a "split" of the signal to something outside the console. This is how I hit my external verb boxes. I use the bus outs in the manner I think you are describing.

Also FYI, using the insert Y cable option is only available on the Mic/Line side of the console and will not work on the tape return side unless you do some fancy latency inducing routing. It is not straight forward.
