Well the troublesome part has been fixed. Now you have all your channels and tape returns which is good. I think the other stuff is an easy fix. I would trash any Cat5 cable back there and just hook everything up the way you would shown in the manual. Why are there custom CAT5 cables? What are their purpose? The Cat 5 card on the d8b is there so you can put the thing on a network which is all fine and dandy I guess if you need to get to mix files remotely I suppose. On the HDR, it is there for slinging tracks in and out of the machine when the HDR is is in FTP mode. Having the CAT5 connection between the d8b and the HDR serves no purpose that I can think of.....

Gents,
Here are a couple of pictures. Show the adapter and the 4 pins. The cards are 9 pin not 15. I swapped adapters, but did not have time to turn the system on after I made the change. Did not see any bent pins or broken wires...

Crash, you may be right on this... I may have to get the proper midi cable and make connections as indicated. The blue cat 5 cable is to FTP files from the HDR to my laptop.

Will let all know how swapping adapters and cables go.

Cheers

Wow... Now I finally get the Big Picture! :)

The cards are 9 pin not 15

Thought so. They are identical in size, I know.

Seriously, I don't see anything wrong with those converters, if they worked before, they should be working now.... Would be interesting to know the result of the swap, it might help us to find the problem. If - for example - transport of the D8B would not be working but timecode runs when you press play on the HDR, then one of the adapters should have a problem of some kind. If, however, nothing changes, then maybe one of the cards went belly up or the cable is intermittent /bad. Make sure you swap the converters only, not the cable ends!

Gents,
Been away for a while...and computer crash...Anyway, my d8b is healthy with the exception of the digital counter on the transport not working. I am going to install a video card in the HDR. When I open up the HDR, I will pull and clean all of the addon cards...will keep everyone informed of progress and results.

Cheers
