Talk back button

Postby Old School » Tue Jul 09, 2024 1:42 am

Hi All,
Can the talk back button be replaced by taking off the top surface plate or is it more involved like having to go in thru the bottom of the unit?

Have a blessed day,
Mike

Got to go through the bottom. I always used a footswitch to engage talkback, as to save the talk back button from falling apart.

I could swear that I saw a long post that went over exactly that procedure, a few years ago. I thought it was Phil C. posting about it... I couldn't find it just now, but will follow up, if I do.

I think I was thinking about this thread, but no specific info on the steps how to do it, but some useful info where to get parts:

You have to remove the left and right end caps, flip the console, take off the bottom, remove all of the ribbon cables to the brain board, remove the stiffener that the brain board is attached to. Then you need to remove the ribbon cable to the board with the transport buttons, can't remember the board number at the moment. Flip the console again and start removing the small black allen head/hex screws to drop the board out. That's the down and dirty of it.

If you look at the pics in the database, they may be helpful. It's not that difficult, just a pain in the ass.

Thanks Guys,
I don't know if I'm up to flipping the board over right now, guess I'll have to use the footswitch. :(

Have a blessed day,
Mike
