I'm selling my Mackie D8B. The board is fine, but the computer itself is not functioning properly. I accidentally reset the BIOS (Long story), and I tried to connect the hard drive externally to my PC so I could reprogram the hard drive and unlock the extra plugins.. But, in my attempt I bent the pins.. The man I bought it from purchased it brand new for allot of money, but in reality he had no idea how to use it efficiently.. It was basically a left right channel volume controller. I am not a computer specialist, I am a mechanic by trade and I have had it up to the neck with this. It's just taking up space at this point.. I don't want to part it out, because I don't want anything extra sitting around. Plus I wouldn't know how to part it out, nor do I want to try. I have no idea about how much it costs to ship it, maybe you do. Make me an offer, and if it's reasonable it's yours. I do know that everything on the board works correctly, I did use it for a month or so until I accidentally reset the BIOS. I was using analog as well as the digital channels, all channels worked as they should. I am in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

Sorry to hear that you're ready to give up... sounds like there's really only "relatively" small obstacles to overcome, to get your D8B back in working order. I know it can be daunting, but if you want, we can pick this back up and I can try to help you to get this going (did that bent pin break off, or can you bend it back? Some of the pins aren't even used... so there's still a chance that the drive would still work, with a broken-off pin... so, IMO, not a reason to give up).

Or if you're willing to spend a little bit of money, there's always options such as buying a pre-installed CF card kit... I found this one when doing a quick search (but I know there are others... maybe cheaper without the IDE adapter, etc... but that one's definitely useful, if you ever have to do any maintenance):

You'll still have to re-do the BIOS settings according to what's listed in the database, though. For that, if you know which motherboard you have (old style or newer style - we could determine via pictures), we could go through that as well (...also with pics you'd share, to see what needs to be changed).

Anyway, I'm totally willing to help, if you want to give this another shot, and would otherwise like to keep the D8B. But if you've had it, as you said, then I understand if you just want to get rid of your D8B now...

I appreciate it, but I'm really over it. I am using reason 12, and my mixes are turning out pretty solid considering it's software only. I've just had it with it.. The pins broke, and bent.

Hey fellow D8B owner... What are you asking for the unit? I am really having problems with mine and, just maybe your unit can help rebuild mine or vise versa. Let me know, otherwise my board will be up for grabs next.

I honestly don't know what to ask for it? If you want, (I hope it's not a policy violation) send me an email and we can communicate faster. t h a r y d e @ gmail.com. Idk how much it'll be for shipping or anything. You can make me an offer. The board is fine, everything works. The computer unit is not functioning, it needs a re-coding. I attempted to do this but I bent the pins to the hard drive..
