D8B and RME Fireface

Postby Originalfunster » Thu Mar 23, 2023 12:59 pm

Hi all,

New member of the forum, and new user of the D8B.

So..
I am the proud owner of a D8B V5.1, I am runnung Cubase 12 pro, and have both a Fireface UC and a Fireface 800.
I have a signal at the deskbridge on playback, and I have a signal on the deskbridge when I plug in a mic or instrument, but I am not geting a signal in cubase.
So are there any D8B, Cubase, RME users on here here that could point me in the right direction?
Thanks in advance guys..

Can you advise what output cards the desk has installed ?

It would really assist if you could describe exactly how you have everything set up.

Not that I have had any experience with either of the Fireface units but on just reading a description and features of the 800 unit,I would think that if you have the OPT-8 optical cards installed in the desk, you should be able to connect these via Toslink cables to the optical (ADAT) inputs on the 800 unit and at least see some signal on the 800's meters.

Hi David,

Thanks for the prompt reply.
I have the following cards installed
3 x opt-8 cards.
1x digital I/O AES/EBU.
I have connected the fireface 800 to 2 of the opt-8 cards (I may be getting another FF800 in which case I will daisy chain them and use the 3rd opt-8 card.) If I can work out how to connect the fireface uc to the 800 I will go that route as I already have the UC.

I have a small amount of outboard gear connected via a patch bay. The Fireface 800 is connected to both the patch bay and the desk.
The patch bay comes into the desk 1-8
The fireface800 is connected from the balance line out's 1-8 to the line in 17-24 on the D8B.
if I plug in a Mic, I get Sigal at both the FF800 and the D8B, but I am getting nothing in Cubase.
Hope that sheds a little more light..
Regards
Gary
