Advice on what to do first with a d8b

First, measure whether you get voltages on the cables from the psu to the motherboard.

Next for good measure, remove everything - even the ram blocks and the cpu - from the motherboard.
Check the jumpers up against the manual - make sure everything is set up right.
reset bios (remove battery, move jumper, move jumper back, put battery back)
put one ram block back in, and also the cpu.
Put the graphics card back in.
Attach the psu, and see if you can get a boot (do the cpu fan start rotating when you turn on the psu?)
If nothing happens, try with the other memory block (was there two blocks, or only one?)

Ok, I’ll try that and report back.
Also, Yes the psu powers up and the fan in the supply spins and everything looks good there.
I also got lucky and found another d8b rack for cheap so I’ll have a backup for parts. Hopefully it’s the 300mhz version.

I upgraded an old version mother board to the new many years ago, all I needed to change was the processor.

As the newer CB50-BX/ZX motherboard is hard to find (I assunme this is the new one), do you know if the processor is easier to find and what is the model number of the processor is?

I am looking to run a CF on my d8b but have no luck getting the older MB to work with the CF.

Without taking the CPR out of the rack and stripping it down I don't know, I have some pictures on the data base of the inards, I' haven't looked but wonder if the info shows there?

Ok, I’m back... Checked the voltage, all good ( actually really good! ) took EVERYTHING out again and still nothing.
Check the jumper settings, moved them and moved them back, still nothing.
Tried removing 1 RAM block then reboot. Tried both slots at different times, still nothing.
I’m hearing the floppy drive wind up, but when I put in a floppy, the light doesn’t even come on.

Any other ideas guys?

And yes arjepsen, fans are spinning up on the mb and in the psu.

Hey Bruce. Does the Mackie HDR 24/96 have the CB50-BX/ZX motherboard in it?
If so, I have one and someone here was telling me that I can use it instead of the one I’m having problems with. Is that the case?

Yes, it's the same motherboard.
So: The psu is providing power to the board, but it doesn't boot.
At this point - if you don't have a specific need of your HDR, I would take that machine's motherboard + cpu, graphics card and ram, and use in your d8b instead. (and as someone else stated: be careful to plug the psu power cables in the right slots).

I also picked up another d8b unit cheap this past week so I’ll have another chance to get a stock one going.
Just a side note, what is everybody using to track with the d8b? The probox? Other software? Why is no one using the Mackie 24 track to record the tracks anymore?
