Thanks everyone. Just a quick note for others if they ever experience this. The first thing I witnessed as the Desk began fail, was that the big red rude solo light in the Control panel started to blink. Then it would fade away and the desk would die. some little lights here and there would blip in very faint glow, but the OS is unaffected and the mix window remains stable.

I guess the OS is not effected because the power supply is just to the desk.

Life with the d8b is always easier with box full of spare parts. Glad you are sorted.

There are three power supplies in the CPU. There is the standard CPU power supply at the back of the unit, and then there is an Aztec Power Supply in front of that and the Linear Power supply which sits next to the Aztec Power supply.

The standard power supply supplies power to the computer and power to a distribution board. The distribution board supplies power to the AZTEC power supply and the Linear Power supply. The linear power supply controls the voltages that are fed to the DESK, as does the Aztec power supply as well.

Well it looks like spoke to soon. Turned my d8b on tonight and it lasted about 30 minutes and then died. Looks like i am going to have to find the Aztec power supply and replace that in the hopw of bringing it back to life for good. I thought i saw a thread bout the power supply but not sure. Anyone have any ideas on where to point me?

THanks
