ok, so there's a chance the keyboard isn't working.

So your options seems to be:
1: keep working on the wires for your keyboard, and see if you can make it work.
2: get a ps/2 keyboard and a ps/2-AT adapter.
3: get a usb-port to connect to the usb header on the motherboard, and then connect a usb keyboard to that. I believe a usb keyboard should work to get you into the bios in all circumstances.
4: get a kvm-switch like the Aten CS82U - this will allow you to use wireless mouse/keyboard with the d8b and HDR.
