Well great news it was in fact a ribbon issue. I reseated and I'm now good to go. Probox, d8b, and my studio pc are all communicating as it should be. Thanks for all the help gents. I truly appreciate it.

Good to know Ralph is trying to help already. Still curious (and this matter to the troubleshooting) - does the Console eventually show "Error 43" in the display, or is it continuously stuck on the Rude Solo light?

When I start the d8b it runs through its normal boot up procedure. It's working now. It was a ribbon inside the console. I re seated the ribbons and now it's running like it did the 1st time I connected the Probox.

Ah, great! Then what Phil had suggested solved it. Great!

And sorry... for some reason I didn't see your last post, prior to my last one. I only saw there being one page of comments when I typed my response... maybe I missed the 2nd page, or it didn't show up for me somehow, not sure.

Glad to hear it's working again, though! Have fun with it! :D

Ok it worked for awhile but I believe the ribbon came loose again what would be the best way to secure a ribbon so it doesn't become loose again? Hot glue maybe? Thanks in advance.

In my experience it's not the connectors becoming loose, it's the connection with the ribbon on the spikes that's at fault, I've mentioned my method a few times here but here we go, when you have a connector off, run your thumb nail between the ribbon and connector each side of the ribbon and on either side of the connector, the object being, to lift/move the ribbon off the spikes, if your nail is not strong enough you need to use plastic, like a guitar pick, once you've done this, put a few drops of IPA in there and squeeze back tight with a pliers, at one time I kept getting the same problem as you and kept reseating the connectors until I found this method, hopefully it will work for you.

If it's the power connectors that are at fault, you need to push in the metal strips with a small screwdriver, this tightens everything.

Sorry to bother you but you say squeeze tight with pliers? So I need to remove a couple pcb boards, is that correct? Where the power comes in to the d8b and ... You also suggested pushing in metal strips not sure where that is. I probably sound a little funny late night working on this again.I don't mean to be a bother. I took it apart again as before and repeated my steps that solved it before, but just the rude solo light again. I can tell you that a couple green lights on some pcb boards lit. Not sure if that info helps. I'm losing time trying to fix this and that means possibly turning clients away, so I need to get it right. It's a bit embarrassing as a engineer to have it happen in the middle of a session.
Thanks again.

Don't remove any boards, just remove one connector at a time, the ribbon is attached between the two halves on spikes which you can't see, run your nail between the ribbon and the connector, lifting the ribbon off the spikes, it will only lift a small amount, then press the two halves of the connector back tight onto the ribbon with a pliers.

With the power connectors, they're the white ones and bigger, first check if they're loose when connected, if they are, on the side of the connectors are silver/metal strips about 1/16" wide, just press them in ilittle but be carefull.
