Recapping the psu unit

Hi guys has anyone ever recapped ( changed the caps) in the psu? Im a retro computer fan and we usually do this on 30yr old Amigas, Ataris etc. Experience has proved that recapping increases the life of the unit.

Any news about recapping the d8b psu?

I actually recapped the power board in the desk, when I put powersupplies in the desk itself.
Can't really say that I hear any change - but I definately think it's got a cleaner glow to it's aura now....

But honestly, since the old caps have a lot of years on their back, I think it might have been a nice preventive surgery.

Yes true. Its a preventive maintenance. You will never hear any difference in the sound but you will prevent future problems. Remind me please about your project for replacing the original Power supply.

A good idea to replace the caps, however, the phrase, don't fix it if it's not broken also comes to mind

It's NOT for the faint of heart.
During the surgery I managed to connect the +16 to the -16 line and vice versa. Bad Idea!!
I replaced the dsp control card, but still haven't gotten around to replace the i/o board, so even though the desk seems to work, there's no audio. It's ok for me for now, since at the moment I only used the desk with the probox.
