A flashing question mark appears in the VFD window (the small fluorescent window on the console) what does it mean?

Your word clock is not assigned, you need to go to setup and check if it's "locked".

The "word clock" entry gives me "lock error". Maybe I have to set to "internal"? Thank you

I assume that you either have the stock clock card or an Apogee in the d8b, if you have then just set to internal.

Yes I have the clock card or an Apogee. Unfortunately when I put "internal" on "Locked" and if I change to "word clock it gives me" Lock Error ".
Also in the mixer the commands do not work: Play, Stop ...
and therefore the HDR is not controlled by the D8B.
Can there be any error in the setup of both D8B, HDR?

I assume you have the HDR connected properly to the cpu, midi etc and you have the setup right in the HDR?

Yes. The midi is not connected because in the D8B I can't find where to connect the midi cable

You need to connect midi, to be able to start/stop the HDR through the d8b.
On the back of the d8b there's a 9 pin D-sub female connector. It should be the last connector on the right, when you look straight at the back of the cpu-unit.
You need a cable going from that connector out to two midi-plugs.
You can see here, how to make your own cable:

Great arjepsen, Hi. A long time ago, you helped me fix my D8B, then we didn't feel like it anymore because I had a kidney operation. Now I'm better and I wanted to put my studio to work, I don't remember many things anymore and I lost the manuals ... that's why I need help in the forum. I think I understand that the MIDI attack is behind the CPU and the HDR. If so, tonight I try and let you know.
Thank you, thank you for your precious help, I would have died without you.
