changing the hard drive to CCF

Hey Phil I did change the apogee clock card back to the d8b clock card. And it still doing the same thing. Can you tell me the cables you was talking about that was hard to get to. At least I could give that a try. I just never been that far with the cables that I don’t see but will try if I can find out witch ones I need to check. Thanks for any help. Could this be a bad power problem

I can't remember if they're related to the board that's causing your problem but I'll check tomorrow as its 23:20 here now!

There's six ribbons from the bottom of the Brain board, 3 can be got at going to the fader banks but 2 run behind, I don't know if this is your problem but a bit of stripping is needed to get to the connectors, also there's a few that can't easily be got at right at the back of the desk.

I had a problem with something once and it was from a hidden connector. you also need to check that the ribbons are seated properly on the connector blocks, because if they're not, just re-seating the connectors won't work.

Well Phil. I did not get to make it to the studio was just to tired yesterday and today but Inwill make time this week end to check all ribbon cables and a few other things I will try. Thanks to all who have helped me with this problem.

Joe, don't forget to check the connectors with a circuit tester just to make sure there's continuity from one end to the other, it's time consuming but at least you'll know that the ribbons are ok!

Hi Phil Hear is what I have done I took the cpu that came with this last d8b I just got. I know it’s working so I hooked it up to my old d8b witch I was having trouble with. So here is what’s heaping I boot the d8b up and it boots all the way up but I can’t move from one bank to another and I can’t move anything buy hand and all the faders fill like there stuck. I sit there about 4minutes with the d8b on and was thinking what it could be then I looked up an all the lights was out. So I think now it’s something in the d8b it’s self because the cpu worked in the other d8b and everything worked except I could not get any sound from the channels. So now I’m getting ready to check all the ribbon cables that you talked about foe the other d8b. But I also would like to find out what’s going on with my older board. Anyone got any clue as to what this could be in the d8b I know for sure it’s not the cpu. Thanks for any help. Sorry for the long post. Joe Allen

Hey.
I forget if I asked this: do you have working floppies? If so I would suggest trying to reinstall 5.1 on either CPU. Its not impossible that its a software problem.

Thanks Anders. Yes I have some old floppies and they all stop on the second disk I think there just to old. That was the reason I change over the the CF. But I will try and see if any of them may work now I could be wrong but when mike Whitley took my CF card and put everything on it for me including the d8b hack and all the plugins it showed them all unlocked the reason I say this is because I have change the cpu on both boards and still get the same thing from both cpu units on both d8bs. I will see if the disk will work. I just got done doing what Phil said to try I did make sure all the ribbon cables was on and tight the best I could. Still the same thing. Can someone tell me where do the mic lines get there power from so I can check that if reloading the 0S don’t work. Thanks every one. Joe
