Sending signal to OPT 1-8

Postby Vilasalvas » Fri Jul 05, 2019 6:18 pm

I am having trouble sending a signal to OPT 1-8. I have 3 Adat cards fitted plus an Apogee card (with Adat in and out) fitted to the 4th bay. I understand that these are reffered to as OPT 1-8. How to I send a signal from let's say, channel 10 to a channel on the OPT card? Looked in the manual, it says what it does, but not how to do it. Many thanks.

Check setup to make sure your OPT-8 are recognized, plug in a guitar for example, make sure that on the Line in bank the vu is showing and you have sound through your monitors, press the Route to tape button, press the select button on the Channel that your guitar is plugged in to (Line in bank) press the assign button on the track you want to record to and arm that track and that's it.

Hi Phil, thanks for the speedy reply. I have the sound source confirmed and its showing on the meters and monitors. My problem is the actual route to tape. My setup has the 24 tracks going to a SDR/24 and I was hoping to send the ALT 1-8 tracks to my DAW (Sonar). The "tape out" section can only send to tracks 1-24 there is no mention of the additional outputs as far as I can find. What do you thnk? thanks.

That can be done I think, it's a similar setup as dual d8b's, but with that the slave comes back into the master d8b via the Alt-1-8 card.

You can send channels from your line in to a DAW with the line outs, into something like a Motu 2408 that's what I do.

You can read about it on page 66/67 in the manual. Basically check the SETUP - DIGITAL I/O TAB has the ALT 1-8 set as the OPT-8, then on the NETWORK TAB check that ALT I/O (outputs) 1-8 are all set on BUS 1 thru BUS 8. Then to send to your DAW use the appropriate ASSIGN BUS 1 thru BUS 8 in the ASSIGNMENT section.
That's pretty much it.
