Where`s the Noise switch

Postby musicmaker12 » Tue Feb 22, 2011 8:47 pm

Hallo,
maybe I´m blind but where can I find the channel filters switch.
I use Mackie d8B 3.0 Build 209

With my new Computer and new RME Soundcard I hear Noise On off
fx on low levels. I remembered there was a channel filter switching on lower bits.

Before you ask why I use Version 3.0
These days I use my Mackie only for Monitoring.I mix in the box.
So I think there`s no need for the newest software.

Hi Reinhard,

Channel List --- Control - B

Welcome to the forum. The manual is your friend. Also check out the database here it is super informative.
I am pretty sure Mackie has lowered the price on the V5.1 unlock and it is very much worth it for more than a few reasons. If you have not already done so recently I would revisit the upgrade and see if it might be worth it to you. YMMV

Hope this helps,
Michael

Yes, Michael, you're right, the new price is $174.

Thank you guys !
Looks like I had already put all the filters to off in the past !

But the problem I hear sounds the same. On low level signals I hear something like a noise filter opening and closing.
Oktober last year I`ve buyed a new Computer with Windows 7 64Bit and a new RME Raydat Card.

This Card is connected with 4 Adat cables to my d8B desk. 16 Audiochannels 44,1 Khz Samplerate
I have the apogee clock card in my Mackie.

Someone knows what caused problems like this ?

I will look into the new 5.1 Operating Software. Thanks !

Hi Reinhard,

Another one to remember is to have "load last session on power-up" NOT checked (it is in the set up window Ctrl +1) so you start every boot with a fresh default session and then you can load your saved session that you are working on.
If the settings in your session have this noise but when you start a default session it is not there then it is something within the settings in the session and I would go channel by channel to try and isolate it.

Other than that you could look at the gates and compression to see if any of those are in the chain. Turn those all off and see if you get this sound you speak of. There is not enough information to see what this might be I am just throwing things out there in hopes it will lead you to an answer.

Is the sound on every project, on every channel? Is the board making the sound when audio is playing, when idle? I know you said low level signals, is it every low level signal on every channel? I know it can be frustrating, right now I am working alone  and there is this annoying buzz in the room. I am trying to live mic, and I can't find the source of this awful sound. I'm like what the heck??? What is that???

Hope this helps,
Michael

Hi I have also noticed this noise and reported it in my other post, seems strange that only the two of us have / noticed this problem unless everyone else is either use to it or does not have it!
If its the same issue as mine its sounds like the noise floor level increasing as the FX (reverb) fades away! the noise then decays afterwards.
As I said before I'm hoping its one of the noise bug fixes mentioned in the 5.1 release data so there maybe hope for use 3.0 users yet.

PS the channel filters do not help this problem as they are not available on the FX channels!
