I have swapped the Graphics card with the one of the 2nd d8b and mouse/ keyboard are now not working. During bootup the following message is seen: Unhandled pic Interrupt IRQ

Now i cant go into BIOS

Yeah, it's a cirrus logic card. My d8b came with the same one.
However, I did replace that one with an ati.

If I were in your shoes my approach now would be, in order:
1) reset the bios/cmos (removing the bios battery, and moving the "clear cmos jumper" for about a minute. Then restart, get into bios, and set it up correctly.
2) resinstall the OS.

If the problem persists:
3) get an ati card.

The clear CMOS Jumper should be moved to the 2 and 3rd pin? Currently as usual its on the first and 2nd pins. Then after a minute shall i put the jumper back plus battery?

Now its waiting for me to pres F1 to continue and DEL to enter setup however the keyboard although the LEDs flashes during boot-up it is not working.....im screwed.

your system went into panic Carlo. I agree completely with arjepsen on this. It sounds like the logic board went into a complete panic. that's usually triggered by one of the PCI cards, etc. whilst you're at it, replace the CMOS battery with a new one if you haven't already done this within the last year.

Yes - disconnect all power - remove battery - move jumper to pin 2+3
Have a quick snack.
Move jumper back to pin 1+2
put in battery.
Reconnect power.

After this, that error is normal - it means the bios has been reset, so it needs to be set up again.

keyboard not working - crap.
Good news is that since you get an error - your graphics card seems to work.
Just to check - are you using an old at-keyboard, or a ps2 with an at-adapter.
Or have you put in a usb port, and use usb keyboard?
Do you have a different keyboard you could try?

is it viable to install USB within a D8B? if so, that would be a way of eliminating the PS2 / AT style keyboard issue?

I like the idea of the snack bit. I think if it was me, each step would be followed by a pause, snack, maybe a good drink..... then get back to it.

Carlo, daft question here but what is the condition of the logic board and cards like? any corrosion or heavy dust build up? is the D8B cooling sufficiently? if it's cooling well, that's ok, if the board is covered in dirt, etc it needs careful cleaning, sometimes dust and other debris can cause shorting or burning. have a look on the main board as well to see if any capacitors are bulging or leaking, if leaking or bulging, they need replacing.

From what I remember, When mackie built the D8B, they went through a particular batch of capacitors which were a bit too low and as a result, power rails, controllers, etc suffered. I've known a D8B completely rebuilt and all capacitors replaced and it did resolve a number of issues. Keeping our fingers crossed for you. waiting for you to let us know the outcome of your work.

hahaha Good one Lew i like the prayer. Well im back to normal guys. Cleared the CMOS and set up everything from scratch.
