Where To Get v5.1

Hello All

Have not been here in awhile....been on a DAW for a couple of years but would like to resurrect my old d8b to use as a control surface, so of course I need v5.1.....I know I could buy the Probox or d8bridge but retired and fixed income Larry is trying to avoid a 2 or 300 dollar investment as a looksee, especially if the d8b will be able to do it via HUI if I upgrade to v5.1

I've rambled around the net and forum, downloaded the 5.1 disk images (with disk 2 not fitting on a floppy etc.) and I am stuck. ....can't find the "os5v1_free.zip so here I am.

All my hardware have CF drives for the OS......mechanical drives for the storage......haven't figured out how to use SSDs for that yet. I'm fairly computer savvy....remove, replace parts etc. so if I had to install 5.1 without floppies I could do it all on my PC by installing floppy disk files to CF drive, if that is possible but I need the correct v5.1 files to start, and some instruction would be nice

Have mercy on me....or at least educate me and I will be forever indebted....( or at least till the next blowup ). Thank you for looking

Thanks for the reply Crash.....but the address for munkstrap's dropbox for the code is not evident. And I have not figured out a way to fit disk 2 on a floppy... (and I go back to DOS days)

My bad, thought you were just looking for the 5.1 OS. It's been so long since I have been down that road with the floppy discs. If it comes back to me, I'll be back.

Thanks for link and instructions. I followed your script .....loaded the CF (32gb btw, maybe thats an issue)......all seemed to go well, but after the post, mem check etc. d8b wouldn't load the 5.1 os. After 'loading" message it just hangs...error 43. It does have a new 2032 cmos battery. I put the 3.0 CF in and it loads up fine, so couple questions

does the CF need to be formatted first? (format on in ini file)
does anything else have to be loaded on CF?
Did I miss a step?

I redid the install and it worked! Thanks so much for the info. Now on to getting it to control studio one through HUI mode

Since you were so helpful.....maybe you could point me in the right direction....I'm sure these issues have been resolved but so far I can't locate the intel

How to get all 24 faders to work (usb switch?.... or does it require code)
How to get the master fader to work (17 to 24 working now with mute, solo, select and record but not master fader)
Transport buttons work but not the display (bars-beats-timecode)
d8b meters (not essential since I have it on the daw but would be nice)

Unfortunately I dont know much about the hui mode, since I’ve never really used it.
Quite frankly, I’m good at computers and hardware, but I’m a simple noob when it comes to mixing.
Wait for others to chime in, or make a seperate thread with the hui questions.
