ok, I've finaly made the image.
Here's a walkthrough;

First, download the image I made - here's a link:

https://www.dropbox.com/s/mp1njcd2hebmx ... s.adi?dl=0

Then download the freeware version of AOMEI backupper, and install that.
(carefull, they really want you to download and install other things).

Insert the CF card in the reader.
Start the AOMEI program.
Choose "Restore" on the left.
Click the "path" button, and navigate to the image you downloaded.
Click "open".
The backup will be listed. Click on the text, and the "next" button will light up.
Click the next button.
Click on the "Disk3" name, and then click "Next".
In the next window, you have to choose which disk you want to restore to.
BE CAREFULL, so you don't accidentally overwrite something you dont want to.
Choose the CF disk, click next, and then "Yes" to the pop up window.
Click "start restore".
Cross your fingers.
When the process is finished, click "finish", and turn off the computer.
Remove the CF card, plug it in to your d8b, start up and hope for the best :-)

Let me know if you have trouble.

Seemed to be working then:
App load failed
Remove disk and press esc key to reboot

Failure opening disk in pc_dskopen
Error opening disk

Ok- got it booted!

The CF reader came configured as slave/master. When I changed the jumper to master/slave it booted and gave me the “not enough ram” error. Now to find some ram and move forward!

Thanks again! Significant progress- almost there.

Hey Pastorrice;

If you are running d8b Software Ver 5.0 or 5.1 you need at least 32 MB of RAM, more is better.

There is a seller on ebay under either Mackie d8b or Mackie HDR that sells 256MB of RAM. It is the correct kind and solves this issue.

Here is a quote from the DATA BASE section regarding RAM for Older Mother Boards.

"With regard to RAM, PC100/168 pin/SDRAM/dimms (or PC133 if backwards compatible) are recommended. PNY 133 sticks may not be backwards compatible. Some say they don’t work, some say they do. 64 meg minimum is what Mackie recommends, though some have said it will run with less (albeit slower). For V5, 128 meg or up to 256 meg works better and the OS supports it. The older boards won’t support 256 meg sticks but two 128 meg sticks seem to work fine. During installation of RAM, when you handle the dimms, leave the CPU plugged in (but off at the mains for safety’s sake) and ground yourself to the CPU metal casing to avoid static discharge which may ruin the dimms. Handle them by the edges and avoid touching the chips or the gold edge connectors. It seems that just about any combination of RAM size works together. It also seems that if you use 256 meg dimms, you must have dual sided or only 128 meg will be recognized."

Here is a quote from the DATA BASE regarding Newer Mother Boards.

"With regard to RAM, again, 64 meg minimum. 128 meg or 256 meg is better as the OS does support it. 256meg PNY 168 pin dimms work fine."

Hope this helps.

Cheers
Bruce

Got a 256mb ram chip from eBay... popped it in and everything boots and is successfully working!! Now - I have a few sticky faders, but I seem to remember a post here for that. Next project is to hunt down that post and fix the faders... believe we will be good to go after that! Thank you all for the amazing help!!!

First off, try calibrating the faders.
Go to the setup menu - theres a button for it there.
