Presets

Hey again.
Almost ready to put up the image for the d8b.
Somewhere in here I found some presets from a "Keith Olsen". I'll put them in there too.
But do any of you guys have any presets you tend to use, that I could also put in there, for good measure??

I think "Faders To Tape" is a good default preset. This sends the "Microphone Bank" Fader, to the Multi Track Routing. Not the Gain or Sensitivity Pots.

What makes "Faders To Tape" such a good default preset? Are there any alternatives?

Hi Behard;

Sorry for the delay in answering. Just back for a vacation.

The default method of tracking (Recording) is to have the "Gain" or "Sensitivities" routed to the Multi-Track Router. This means the only way to control the level going to your record machine is with those knobs.

Using "Faders To Tape", routes the output of the faders. on Bank 1, also called the Mic\Line Input Bank, to the multi-track Router. In the signal path of the console, this is after the "gain" adjustment.

This offers;
1- much more level control (smaller adjustments using the fader versus the "gain knob",
2- keeps the gain structure of the console in place.
3- allows you to record dynamics like EQ, Compression and Gating. FYI be careful when recording dynamics as you can't un-do these so....... gentle EQ, gentle Compression and NO gating is generally the way to go when Recording. The more aggressive EQ, Compression and Gating are used when mixing.
