No audio from d8b optical inputs

Banging head against wall, hope somebody can help me (stop)...

The details:
d8b OS 3
Feeding optical inputs from a MOTU 2408/PCI-324. Master word clock comes from a MOTU Midi Time Piece, both units set to 48k sample rate, d8b reads "Locked."

I'm seeing audio on the 2408 output leds. It's routed thru optical cables to d8b - but no digital input showing on board.

I've replaced the d8b's internal battery, and though it's booting from its hard disk it's not saving setup (needs to be set up each time on restart).
On startup I get loud clicks at ~120bpm from the stereo outs without external sync.
Analog audio inputs function normally.

Any help or ideas appreciated.

Have you configured the desk to receive Opt?

Hi Phil,

In the Setup box under
TAPE 1-8 TAPE 9-16 TAPE 17-24
I've set the Input & Output dropdowns to ADAT.
Their Type is DIO-8.
Is there something else I need to do?
