The last page of this shows what the keyboard settings should be in the bios area, though I don't think that is your issue art this point.

You may have to hit the 'net to get floppy disks if they are not available locally.

Sorry you are still with issue.

Hello Crash,

Please don't be sorry mate, it is not your fault. I am glade your still with me on this issue. I just have to explain to the home finance minister (wife) about getting a new SSL AWS948 & a G5 for Automation.

Well today was the same as yesterday (Ground hog day). Start up the d8b and presto the mouse came out to play I manage to Mix and save the next song to floppy disk before the mouse went back to la la land.
BTW I've found some spare floppy which I'm going to try out. I hope it works fine. I know that this is the last resort to fixing this issue but I have to get it done sooner or later.
Thanks for the info link, I have already seen that which I have followed through before when I've install a new Battery to the MB. As for the Floppy Disk, thats a good buy. I've also found some on e$ay.

Hi All,

Ok I have re-install the OS...so far, so good. Dame it, looks like I can't get an SSL AWS948 now that the d8b is working again. I have to put it through it's workload to see if the mouse is going to play up again.
Thanks for being there for me Crash, some how you've talk me into doing this re-install of the OS. I just knew I had to do it one day.
The 19 tracks that I am doing is for a band called Dr Preposterous and the Album is called Dr Preposterous and the Tale of the Whalebone Decoded. It is a Rock-Funk-Reggae-Erotic-Action/Adventure-Hit-Sci-non-Fi-Comedy-comic book soundtrack, Pew. If I can have permission from the guys I'll put it up here for you guys to hear. It wont be the whole Album though. It's has been a long day. I'll have to catch up on some rest and test the d8b tomorrow to see if everything is alright. Cheers & thank you very much everyone.

Well, I hope the mouse plays by the rules from here on out.

Your project sounds similar in non style to the funk/jazz/blugrass/rock/Americana/pop oddysey I am in the middle of remixing, at least by your description. The tracks I have done thus far are somewhere on here.

Oh no, not again.

After some intensive mix the mouse went off again. and this time when I reboot the system it wont come back at all. Its seem to be when I am doing some auto mix at this time when the mouse freeze. I really don't know what the answer is at this stage. Just off the cuff, I am hoping it's not a hairline crack on the PCB. I am not looking to the final outcome of what's going to happen to this idiosyncrasies

Sorry to hear it. I guess you could give ram a go for giggles. Hopefully it is not a sign of motherboard doom....

Now that I think about it, when I upgraded to 5.1, I eventually started having all sorts of oddities as I recall because I was not running enough ram. The problems started quite a while after I upgraded if my memory is correct, which is questionable. Have you always had 5.1 or is that fairly new to this console? Has there ever been any ram added to it?

OK, I have re-install the OS to the system. I did a test yesterday and the same thing happen, mouse wouldn't play so I got a bit upset. shut down the studio & walk away & tears started to build up.

I Had a rest for a couple of hours & went back to the studio and took everything apart from the Mackie d8b & connect it all up again then re-install OS d8b v5.1 B445 PC + d8b Service Pack 3 & Hey presto The mouse came back to stay and play the rest of the day & night & did some test and some intensive mix, it was getting late into the night so I shut down everything and when home with a smile on my dial. Had a good sleep & work up very early this morning when to the studio & commence to do some heavy mix with Automation. Everything went smoothly with the d8b & mouse.
I have to go back tomorrow & see if the mouse is still there, then I can call the Dr up to do some extra vocals & harmony for the album. I will let you know how I go tomorrow with the mouse before calling the Dr.
Thanks All for putting up with my nonsense.

Thanks Crash again, as for ram I have no idea how much ram I have got in the d8b, but I will check to see how much. Do you think it's a good idea to put more in if I don't have enough ram? at least I now know that it's not the mobo being doomed. This d8b has always been running V5.1 when I got this console. It's basically a new console when I got it, I am the second owner. The first owner bought it for some film project that didn't eventuate and used it a couple of times with just two line inputs going to the d8b for CD audio. He basically used it as a door stopper.

It might be worth a look to see what you have in there. I can't remember what the max the console will recognize but 256 megs seems to come to mind, though I am sure that info is in the all too handy database. The only downside on the ram is that it is getting hard to find since it is old school PC100 or whatever it's identifier is. Maybe you will have better luck down under if indeed you need more.

There is nothing worse than having issues in the middle of a project. My fingers are crossed for you.

Everything is now running smooth as with the current re-install OS. I am not having any more mouse issues in this setup. All Good.

I am however curious to know if it is possible to put a another Hard Disk Drive in the Mackie's box as a second Drive, so I can use the second Drive only for presets/archive Drive and use the first Drive only as OS drive. Will this setup be possible?

Thanks Crash, I had a look at the mobo 7 its has two stick of ram, by the looks of it i'd say its full. I dare not touch them. I'm however still looking for the old school rams in case I need to replace them in future.

I went to the old d8b Mackie forum site to have a look at the DATABASE for some old photos of the mobo and I think it has been taken down. every time I click on the link CPU Internal (New MOBO) it takes me back to DATABASE:- Mackie Forum. Is it something I am not doing right or have Mackie given us the run-a-round.
