NO SOUND OR LED + PLIGIN ERRROR 74

Postby Flosser » Wed Feb 09, 2011 2:18 pm

Hi all,

Could anyone help me with no sound or led along with plugin error 74.

this has happened three times now in the past month.

i have tried the ribbon thing although inside my box looks different to to the one in the picture with a totally different layout and there is no ribbon that i can identify but i assume it must be a wire in mine.

It is working now again but i have not really identified where the problem lies.

What box are you talking about? Inside the console or CPU? There is no totally different layout with a d8b. They were all the same from start to finish of production in terms of ribbon cables and where they connect. Sounds like someone has been inside yours before and maybe the routing getting from point A to point B is different due to that, but point A and point B are still the same.

My money is on the power ribbon cables. They are the more "homemade" looking of the bunch, sort of tan in color with white connectors and an orange orientation stripe, usually 5 pins or so. Those ends can get a bit funky on these cables so you might start there.

Do you have a multi-meter? You can troubleshoot pin to pin continuity if you do and rule out these cables or maybe track down a bad connection some where.

The CPU. Thanks for the help.
I have been and pushed and pulled on the connecters that seemed in the right place but as i said i am not sure as the desk starts working at random and not straight after.
The second time i had to take out one of my ufx cards and reinsert and it started after that. so i am baffled.
Still its working now so until next time thanks for your help>

The ribbon connectors I am speaking of are in the console, not the CPU. You may want to go in the console and do the Ribbon Cable Procedure that is listed around here somewhere. It will help many times with odd behavior. Best of luck.
