Creating an ftp connection with d8b

I tried the 100.100.280.250 and got the same results, but then again, I'm probably not doing something wrong! Just So you know what what steps I did....... I changed the d8b to that number and then tried to have "Windows XP, Create A Network Place" find it. No luck.

The odd thing is, when I shut the d8b off, while the computer is on, it tells me a network has been dropped or a cable has become unplugged. This, I believe, tells me the connection is there!

- ftp setting on my Windows XP and not how it is I am access the network connection?

Sorry but I am not a very computer based person. I know enough to get myself into trouble and not enough knowledge to get my self out of it.

Here is what I think you asked for. Thanks for the tip re camera. I came to that conclusion as well.

As an example, let’s assume your computer’s IP address is 192.168.1.103

On the d8b:

In the "IP ADDRESS" field, enter the same IP address as your computer except, change the last digit to a 4 (or any other number). The IP address should read 192.168.1.104
In the "SUBNET" field, enter 255.255.0.0
Leave the "GATEWAY" field blank.
Tick the “ALLOW FTP CLIENTS” box.
Click “Apply”.
Close the Setup window.
The d8b is now ready to receive instructions from your FTP Client. You don’t need to activate any other menu items to make the d8b receptive.


The easiest ftp client without creating one in ur pc is called

SmartFtp (win xp 32bit or 64)

in the search block, put the ip address you created in the D8b.

If that (10.10.28.10) is not my IP address how do I find what it is?

Once I do find out what it is I can type the changes into the d8b ensuing the last number is different by at least 1 and hopefully it will work.

It is strange as I had my HDR and the d8b connected at one time but deleted the connection as I was having some troubles and...... learning about this stuff at the same time.

Does any of this make sense?

let's start from scratch:

1. cat5 or cat5e crossover cable
(walmart, bestbuy, radio shack, etc)

2. open a cmd line
type ipconfig /all
(look halfway down the page on the left, you should see the "ip address"line)
something like 192.168.1.30
*that is your ip* write it down!

go back to the D8b; put THAT ip address in the ip address bar on the D8b, BUT!! change the LAST digit(s) to something else like 35 or 40 or 50.

NOW on the next line in the D8b ftp setup where it says "subnet"?

put 255.255.255.0

the last line leave as is.

go back to my previous instructions and continue on.

On ur xp machine, download SmartFtp

type the modified address you changed [192.168.1.35]in the search box in SmartFtp and hit search or enter.

the reason why your pc is not reading those 10.10.28.whatever is because those addresses are outdated and vulnerable
