Personally, I think money is better spent on converters and other things that will make more of an impact than clocking.
Here is an interesting thread on GS, it'll make your head hurt but it might be beneficial to you.

yep.... got haf way through the 2nd page and my eyes were bleeding,
all in all yes agreed as long as the clock is of reasonable quality then it should not make a such a big inpact on the sound worth bending over for £1000+.

tried again yesterday recording vocals on to the HDR using the Amek 9098 through the analogue input AIO card
then replayed them through the D8b which funny enough was monitoring through chan 25 of the D8B input
and it does sound better, and was confirmed by the singer,
when recording this way (aginst through the D8B mic input 1 then on to the other HDR using the opt cards.)
it definitely sounds better, there is no mush in the mid and bottom end and is altogether clearer.
and will from now on be doing vocals this way.
i did try and get the same sound EQing the vocal going the mic 1 input, and this did help, a bit.

Now... this i know is down to the quality of the AMEK 9098 being a dedicated unit and not just part of a desks preamp stage
so an unfair comparison really, but untill now i have never really had anything bad to say about the mic ins, still dont come to that, they do the job well enough to get good vocals down per desks age, and still usable.
but in our quest to make things better..... im sure it will carry on forever.

(By the way the same 9098 is the mutz nutz for recording bass !)

"Funk is what you dont play"........GREAT.....im off to the pub then,

The d8b pres don't suck but there is a reason I have a rack of outboard pres for the money sources. I have always felt the desk pres were a little on the dark side. Getting a 10% percent improvement seems to always take 90% of the money and effort.
