Hi Peter, so why is there a d8b FORUM?

the info i wrote regarding a bad or failed 8-fader board is not mentioned in the database.....i stand to be corrected.
The symptoms that are shown on the database are directing towards a bad railcap on the brainboard. Im opening the d8b users eyes that this is not the only problem when you get the symptoms described on the database. My problem was a failed 8 fader board and caused exactly the same issues like a blown railcap on the brain board.

Is this Peter what are refering to?

If strange symptoms occur and appear to be localized (eg. a fader board etc.) be sure to check the schematics associated with the particular board causing your concern.

Hi Peter,

if i were you i would have made it clearer that railcaps problems with the exact symptoms related to a failed brainboard are not soley linked to failed brain boards but also to other boards. By disconnecting a board one by one you could isolate the problem like i did re: and it was a failed 8-fader board.

I would state it clearly on the data base:

''Over the years, since the d8b's introduction, there have been many cases reported of the desk exhibiting what can only be described as lunatic behaviour. This behaviour has more often than not, been attributed to faulty or failed “rail capacitors” ..........................

I would have added (................on different boards such as fader boards, brainboard etc.) since as it is its a bit misleading. I thought it was the mainboard that failed and my tech and various users on the forum thought the same. Well you know....but i would emend the wording on the database. Its up to you administrators.

Why don't you write your own version and submit it to Petersueco. I'm sure he'll put it up. The version that's there makes perfect sense to me.

How could it be taken any other way since you addressed me personally.

When I compiled the database, along with others, I was careful to run entries by others in the know so as to make sure it was as technically correct as possible.

ok got the message...you dont want someone else to get involved in the improvement of the database. I just wanted to improve that section on the database since I PERSONALLY had a problem which the database mislead me and others including technicians. When reading that section on the database re railcaps the only impression i got was related to railcaps on the brainbaord... Thank God i had another d8b and used it to swap the boards between both mackies. The first board that i pulled out of the mixer was the brainboard and it worked fine on the second d8b.....the least i could think of were the fader banks. So from this i learnt that ANY RAILCAP that fails on the mixer will lead you to those symptoms defined on the dbase.
