Bad/faulty PSU connection to DSP/Backplane FIX???/

Hello -

So as of late I have been experiencing the common issue where you loose audio and have to reseat the molex power supply cable/connector that runs from behind the power supply pcb to the DSP card on the back of the cage.

I am getting tired of doing it and I am about to just solder some hookup wire to each contact and create a permanent fixed wiring to these points.

My question is, has anyone else tried this?

I have thrown that sugesstion out before but I don't know if anyone has give it a shot. I don't see why it wouldn't be a viable fix.

Yeah, Im going to knock it out tomorrow and post pics and results. this is getting ridiculous…after bending the prongs for better connection it works for about a day solid. But if i power down and boot back up it may or may not come back, so i have to unscrew bottom reseat connector again and it comes back.

Before doing that i had to play with it every 1hr or so.

you done. because I too think its getting ridiculous
to have to take the back off every time this happing

Hey guys -

sorry, had to go out of town after posting and then i postponed doing it until this week...im off for the holidays. So, i will tackle this project tomorrw and keep yall posted. Going to run out to radio shack in a few to buy some crimp pins

My plan is to cut 4x pieces of hookup wire, place a crimp on both ends, place crimp lead on each pin, then solder in place. And see how that works for a week, if i get any audio loss, freezes.

Yeah, finished it up last night...working on posting the pics today. Check back later this afternoon. I got some running around to do. But i wanted to let it run for 24-48hr burn in before i posted results. But so far so good. when i get back i will power cycle a few dozen times to make sure the problem is gone.

Hey Joe -

I went ahead and posted the pics and step by step in a new thread in the D8b forum. Check it out. Its been working fine so far...been burning in for about 48hrs playing itunes on across 8 tape sends/returns. No loss of audio at all.

I finally will put the bottom back on in the morning.
