How long is the cable in the kit?

The cable is 10 feet long. It can be "piggy-backed" to the normal D8B cable to extend its length.

Okay, forgive me for being a bit dense on this, but how can you piggyback the new cable to the original and it still work? Call me stupid, but I have pondered this for a bit before posting this. I am quite curious about this, because I would definitely like to extend the cable length for a specific reason. But for some reason, I can't get my brain wrapped around that. The post surgery pain meds are good, but I must either be doofy, or missing something. lol

I will be using a Proliant Rack Server as my recording PC, to which the D8B will be connected and the Rack which houses it and my other outboard rack gear is located in an ajoining room because quite simply the Proliant sounds like a vacuum truck on crack. Is there a limit to how far you can extend the cable, or can you piggyback it to ANY length standard Serial cable? I'd like to be able to go as far as needed to isolate the rack in my environment. Is say, a 50ft. extension possible using a longer standard cable?? I'm still just plain befuddled how you can piggyback the custom cable to the original and it still work. Call me dense, but I need that one explained :P

Could a longer custom cable be ordered for an extra fee?

What I mean by "piggy-backing" is that you can connect your normal D8B cable to the end of the D8Bridge cable (on the DB25 end). Adding something like 20 feet or so. If you need 50 feet, it's doable, no problem, lemme know the exact length, we'll figure out something, thanks!
