Full TT24 Service Manual

Postby csp » Sat Nov 30, 2024 3:57 am

Does anyone know if a fully detailed Service Manual (similar to that for the d8b desk) that contains information on things like what the various LEDs indicate on the various PC boards, problems with (say) the power supply board, etc.

I was given a TT24 a couple of years ago and it started to go faulty a few months ago --- it would fully boot then turn off after a few seconds, then after a few seconds would re-boot then again turn off, etc. I have looked at the Power Supply Board and there is a resistor that looks a bit burnt, but still has virtually the correct resistance. I have no idea if two particular electrolytics could be at fault as the board has numerous wires leaving it and they are virtually all soldered to the board. making it almost impossible to remove the board to determine the eletrolytics condition or to even cange them if faulty.

Yestyerday, I discovered that one of the wires in a loom coming from the Power Supply Board has a push in joiner about half was along the loom and it had come apart. I reconnected the two sections and hoping that this might solve the problem powered up the desk. After letting it stand for about 5 minutes it had not gone into the reboot situation --- now quite happy thinking that the problem had been solved, I raise a couple of faders --- required quite a bit of force (!!!), but on releasing the faders they immediately returned to the bottom of their travel. Tried every other fader and also switch to every Bank, but the same effect was on every fader on every Bank. Before the powering on/off started the faders worked normally.

What has caused this new fault condition ???

I then looked at the PC boards in the desk and on the "Main Digital PC Board" there are a number of large ICs (about 11 in total) all having a small LED indicator light below the IC. With every one of these the LEDs were flashing green at about 1/4 sec intervals. There is also another large IC with 6 x LEDs in a vertical strip located beside it, with each of these LEDs being solidly glowing with the bottom three being solid red and the top three being solid green (looks to me like some form of VU type indicator)

Why would all of these LEDs be glowing/flashing ??? I have not tried to unplug the connector that I discovered yesterday to see what effect that will have on the desk turning on/off and on the faders and flashing LEDs and the neutralising faders, because it is difficult to work on (or see) both the control surface and the PC side of the desk at the same time, especially if unplugging the lead causes the desk to enter the power on/off condition)

Hopefully a fully detailed service manual might have the answers to these and possibly other qustions --- no idea why such a manual was never released. BUT if any forum member has any knowledge on the technical aspects of the desk and the destailed faults, I would definitely appreciate knowing.
