Re: HDR 24/96 Mouse/Keyboard stopped working

Hello, new to the group. I have been using my HDR for 5 years with no problems. Started to get the hit F1 to continue problem and knew that it was just a matter of time before the CMOS problem would happen. Well, I started having boot problems that showed the track background but no waveforms. So I changed the battery and was going to reset the BIOS. When I booted it would not see the keyboard so I couldn't get into the BIOS. I tracked down this forum and tried the suggestions on this thread. The making sure the plugs are in, startup with the delete pushed new keyboard and the jumper trick. I still have the same issue. I love this machine and don't want to give up on it any suggestions?

Thanks,
Rich

I can't quite discern whether you manage to get into the bios or not?
It sounds like you are holding down delete when you start the machine?
What you want to do, is start the machine first, and then imidiately start pressing (AND releasing) the delete key repeatedly - that should get you into the bios, IF the keyboard is registered by the machine.

Hello Rich,
Welcome to the forum. If you have tried all the possibilities suggested earlier in the thread, the only thing I can think of is this post http://www.d8bforum.com/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=1946.
Hope you get it working....
Regards

Thanks for the quick answers. I was not able to get into the BIOS to answer arjepsen's original question. I tried your suggestions and still have the issue. I am using a keyboard that I have used since I got the unit. It is a rewired PS2 to 5 pin. I tried a new keyboard a rewired USB to 5 pin. ???

Thanks,
Rich

ok, so there's a chance the keyboard isn't working.
Hats off to you for messing around with the wires :-)

So your options seems to be:
1: keep working on the wires for your keyboard, and see if you can make it work.
2: get a ps/2 keyboard and a ps/2-AT adapter.
3: get a usb-port to connect to the usb header on the motherboard, and then connect a usb keyboard to that. I believe a usb keyboard should work to get you into the bios in all circumstances.
4: get a kvm-switch like the Aten CS82U - this will allow you to use wireless mouse/keyboard with the d8b and HDR.

Hi Randy,

If you have changed the battery, you will need to check the BIOS settings. The settings are here.
