Cache?

Postby Phil.c » Fri Apr 12, 2019 11:04 am

About six months ago I transfered a project from internal HD to External HD(Caddy), yesterday, I tried to open it, the song name came up with 5KB's which of course wouldn't open, by the side of it was Cache with 45MB, but that wouldn't open, to me, that's the file needed, anyone got any ideas here?

When transfering from internal to external, why would the file end up in Cache?

Hi Phil,
Are you trying to open the project on the HDR or have you connected the caddie to an external DAW via USB?
I only ask because with some drives, I have had to change the Master/slave/cableselect jumpers around until the daw recognized my files. Hope this helps.

Have a blessed day,

I'm trying to open a project from the caddy which is in the HDR, so I'm opening from the External drive, I just can't understand after transfering it there from the internal how it ended up as a Cache file and un-openable?

After transfering it, I deleted the original from the internal HD, so I have no other backup, the other files that I transfered at the same time are intact.

Aparently there are programs that can open these sort of files, but I read on the net that files in Cache are not the same, as they are scrambled and even if they are readable, they won't open as a project?

Just wondering, if I copied the Cache file to my pc and used one of these to open it https://www.minitool.com/data-recovery- ... ndows.html would it work?

Hi Phil,
The minitool might work, I've also read somewhere that Winzip can open a cache file.

Curious, that all my projects are KB's, and just a few hundred, the Cache file is 45MB's...why?
