The dreaded error 43.......I need some help.

Postby TySTUDIO » Thu Jan 02, 2014 3:08 am

I have a MDR the is giving me the error 43 - no comm w/host message. I have changed the battery on the motherboard, connected a monitor and keyboard to make sure the BIOS is OK and that the drives are being reccognized. Still got error. Then I made 1.3 OS disks to try and re-format in order to install the OS clean.....and it appears the the floppy is loading but I still get the error. I did make sure to edited the TOOLS.ini file to "format:on". I've tried switching cables. I can hear the hard drive working during the boot up but I still get the error.

I don't know what else to try.

Does anyone have any suggestions.

Thanks,
Kevin

Thanks Bruce....I just shot Mike an email. I have 2 HDR'S that have never given me any trouble (knock on wood) and I picked up the MDR to do an on location gig....what a pain in the arse it's been!

Hey Kevin;

Good luck in your quest. Keep us informed as to your progress.

I, like you, have 2 HDR's but one is back to the supplier being fixed. It never worked properly and I could not fix it. Sometimes you just have to seek outside help.

BTW I should have mentioned if you don't have Mikes Rivers "The Last Mackie Hard Disk Book" you should get a copy. It is very, very helpful.
