Connecting to a Mac

Postby NigelC » Sun Aug 09, 2009 10:30 pm

I have many Macs, however for space reasons have decided to use an iMac 20" running Logic 8.2 which I intend to use primarily for MIDI sequencing hooked up to a D8B and Alesis HD24. Only just got the D8B.

What is best way to get a 2 track mixdown from D8B to the iMac for Master editing? I presume its better to output via digital from the d8b to avoid further D/A to A/D conversions?

The iMac only has a mini optical input. I have scoured the internet and cannot find an AES/EBU to mini optical or S/PDIF to mini optical lead. I have found S/PDIF to optical converter boxes and TOSLink to Mini TOSLink cables. Anyone got any solutions?

You've got it.
AES/EBU -> Optical Converter Box. Then use a TosLink to Mini TosLink cable.
Make sure to enable the digital input on the iMac in Logic.
Good Luck
