Planning to buy a used d8b, a few questions

Hello all,
I am planning on picking up a secondhand d8b within the next couple of weeks. My home studio is crippled by a worst-in-class Behringer MX9000 console that is deteriorating rapidly to the point of not being useful. I have a lot of line-level input sources (12 inputs for keyboards alone, plus various other MIDI gear which I often run in tandem), as well as using one or two microphone inputs for close-miking guitar cabs or doing vocals. I'm also wanting to be able to use the d8b's HUI mode (albeit only 8 faders at a time, as I understand it--I'm okay with this limitation) to control my Logic Studio 8 DAW.
I'm using an M-Audio Delta 1010 connected to a PowerMac G5 running Logic Studio 8 for recording, and I also have an original blackface ADAT.
My questions are as follows:
1. With which cards would I need to populate the d8b to make this rig work? Some of the reconditioned d8b's on eBay are described as needing a sync card. What are my choices for sync cards, and what are the pros and cons to them?
2. Related to the first question, should I plan on using the d8b as the timing master, or should I use the Delta 1010?
3. On my MX9000, I use the 8 submix buses as inputs to the Delta 1010. From what I can tell, the d8b seems to have 8 submix bus outputs multiplexed onto a DB25 connector. Should I plan on using these, and running the Delta 1010's outputs back into the main channel inputs on the d8b, or are there any compelling reasons to pick up an AIO*8 card (i.e., what tends to contribute to a more natural workflow on this board)?
4. What are the options for bringing the ADAT in?
5. Do I need to add any cards in order to use the EQ and dynamics processors of the fat channel section?
6. Is there anything special I need on the d8b side in order to use its HUI mode? (I was planning on aiming for a d8b with the 5.1 firmware)
Thanks much in advance!
