OPT8 ADAT Input Occasionally Goes Deaf?

Postby bitSync » Mon Jul 16, 2012 8:20 pm

Anybody ever see this? I'll be inspecting my digital signal path, banging my head against the wall, wondering why I see no signal activity on the d8b ADAT TAPE INs. The DAW meters are bouncing. If I reboot the d8b I then see the signal I was expecting show up at the OPT8 TAPE INs.

Typical input signal path:
RME ADI-8 QS Balanced Analog In >
RME ADI-8 QS ADAT Out >
Frontier Appache ADAT In >
Frontier Appache ADAT Out >
DAW RME HDSP 9652 ADAT In >
DAW RME HDSP 9652 ADAT Out >
Frontier Appache ADAT In >
Frontier Appache ADAT Out >
d8b OPT8 In

I've tested the path by leaving everything up but the d8b, rebooting the d8b, and I then see the signal appear again once the d8b comes back up. Any ideas? Thanks.

It is not that unusual. Mine does this on occasion as well and (I am using DIO.8 cards) I get around having to reboot by just toggling the TDIF/ADAT settings in the digital I/O window. If you are using OPT.8 cards, you won't have this option. You can reach back and just pull the light pipes and reseat them as well. This will sometimes do it as well.

Thanks, Crash. Unfortunately, the back of the board is pretty hard to get to. Guess I'm stuck with rebooting...
