Various Questions about D8B, please help :)

Postby tinoschulz » Mon Aug 08, 2011 8:59 am

hey. I bought the D8B 2 Years ago, and didnt touch it a while.

Is there a way to link more than 2 Channels, w/o the use of groups, busses or auxes?

Is there a way to link Channels right on the console? W/o using a monitor, keyboard, mouse?

When inserting the MFX 3.0 and setting its input source (most time aux 1 and aux 2) it works fine. But after a while it turns itself of and forgets its input source..input source than is set to "none" on both channel? O_o

Is it possible to Eq or Compress a bus or group? Display shows: The selected channel does not have EQ, compression, or
gating...

Where can i get a new midi-breakout-cable ? i lost mine :(

Is there finally a working way to use this console as a huge midi controller?
i know, there are 2 guys working on reverse-engineering the codes. But is there another way, too?

When connecting a source-singnal to channel 1 (line or mic) suddenly channel 3 led-meters show up. Even after resetting the console, cleaning datacable, formating harddrive etc. :(

Where can i set the "autostart" template?

Hope you guys can give me some answers.

Greetings from Germany.

Geez, that's a lot. Most questions can be answered by reading the manual.

Yep, the manual will be your friend, Tino.

Let me answer one:

Yes. Press and hold 'Select' buttons on the desired channels simultaneously.

Your best bet is to roll your own if you're somewhat experienced with a soldering iron. Alternatively, you can check ebay, they tend to show up time to time.

(I´m gonny ask my father to solder that cable)

Thx for the answers.

Helo tino.

Some things that you can find in the DATABASE

Fan replacement
MIDI cable

Oh, and tighten up the BFC connector too. Twist it so it makes a secure connection.

The autostart file gets automatically created when the original file is missing. Locate and delete all the autostart files in the Session directories.

Tinoschulz,

Again the manual, but a German version at this time could be difficult.

Your MFX problem, is most probably not a problem. I am guessing that you or the previous owner have not purchased any of the MFX plugins and had then autrhorised. As they stand on the desk when purchased, they are only in demo mode and by default will turn off/stop working, after about ten minutes.

You can go to the Mackie web site and go to "Support" (if I remember correctly) and purchase the plugins you require, you will then receive the authorisation codes. Just be carefull as most of the plugins require either two MFX cards (ie Vocal Studio) or at least one UFX card (note this is NOT the same card as the UFX II card with is designed for the Mackie TT-24 desk). These UFX cards can on occassions be obtained from e-bay.

Also, most of your questions will have answers on the database that the guys have compiled as part of both this and the original Mackie forums.

Hope this helps a bit.

David

You don't need to purchase any plug-ins for the MFX card, David. They come stock. You just need the authorization codes and the requests are something like 1111 1111 1111 and 2222 2222 2222 or similar. You do need 2 MFX cards to use the vocal studio in other than demo mode but it's hardly worth the expense.

Hi Tino,
if you ever be in the situation to need it, there is a German support for Mackie consoles:

Michael Hochmann
Mackie Service Deutschland
05921-304888
info@paserviceteam.de
Döppers Esch 7A
D-48531 Nordhorn
http://www.paserviceteam.de

They even happen to have a few motherboards in stock.
There´s a guy here in BW (south of Stuttgart) as well, whom I can recommend, because he fixed my board already.
