Just booted up after 7 years. DSP error. :(

Hi,

It's been ages since I have been around here. I am one of the first D8b Owners in the USA having purchased the first from Sweetwater sound all those years ago, that being said I put it into storage 7 years ago. Well I really wanted to start using it again as I have never found an ITB experience that was as fast and had a great workflow.

I decided to bring the D8b out of storage and start to use it again. I did replace the battery and reset the BIOS to the correct settings.

BAMMO Error 43 on the control surface. The computer screen shows ERROR: DSP Card not ready Current State: RESET.

I have reseated the power coupling cable to the control surface multiple times.
I opened the CPU and reseated the cards. Everything looks great as it was sealed in plastic and stored in the original boxes.

I was so excited to get this running again I stayed up all night and hooked up my entire B suite studio and sadly Mackie has done me dirty. I am bummed out.

Help..lol..

After seven years, I would guess that the connectors inside need cleaning and reseating, probably your best bet

Do you have the data cable connected? A wonky data cable has been known to throw this error. Do a search on it here and you can see what others have experienced.

I pulled and reseated all the cards. Everything works great now. My main volume pot is a bit wonky and jumps around a bit but its all good!

yep..connectors are often big headaches. I also bought mine from Sweetwater in 2003. I updated the HD drives to CF, 2 years ago. It's my main mixer that I use in the studio :)

When you Gents say "pull the cards", are you speaking off the cards and plugs in the console or the cards and plugs in the CPU box? I am still struggling with the "Error 43" and though its been in storage 17 years or so, never had any issues previously.
Replaced battery and reset cards in CPU, but still no luck

Thanks!

Seventeen years?!? Yikes...

Personally, if you've already handled the PC/CPU hardware end I would then clean up the console. Open it up, clean and reseat all the accessible connectors internally - there's some good information in the d8b database IIRC. I would also pull and reinsert any/all UFX/MFX cards, and even go as far as to remove/reinsert the BFC so as to clean/reseat the pins in that monster as well. DeOxit never hurts when doing this kinda cleanup, but just use care in doing so and you should be OK...

As always, you knew it was coming so here it is:
