Card Cage Problem

Hi all;
I have just brought a d8b back to life and have hit a wall. It has to do with the card cage.
I installed 3 PDI-8 cards, and as soon as I install any other cards, I/O or EFX, the solo light stays on and I have no audio. A few other clues are I get no flash on the meter bridge just as it ends the boot process.
I have not checked whether the I/O cards are working, but they are appear on the setup page. I will check them next.
Is there anything this fault points towards? I looked in the data base quickly and didn't see anything.
Cheers and happy new year,
Bruce

That's an odd one.... I would try adding one card at a time between boot attempts to see if it could be traced down to a specific card, or one specific slot. I have never heard of that failure before that I can remember.

Hey Crash;
Thanks for responding. I have more detail.
Today, I was able to install a card in the alt I/O and it worked.
I did do as you suggested and found, that no mater what slot or card I tried, as soon as I install an addition card there was no input signal. Keep in mind the above statement that the ALT I/O slot has a card in it.
To add to the fault pile, there is no LED on anywhere on the console. No transport, no monitor, on mutes, no select, no anything EXCEPT The Rude Solo LED which is on full, no flashing. That's a pretty big fault. Not sure how I missed that first time around?
Take the 4 EFX cards out and all works.
I tried a second CPU to the desk with the same results. The fault appears to be the desk.
I have not tested the I/O cards to see if they are actual passing signals. That will be next.
I have a couple of projects for my wife, then I will be able to try that out.
Cheers and thanks
Bruce

Yeah, I haven't seen that one before either. Probably a good idea to start checking the power and other connections for the card cage as Phil suggests.

That's where I would go next.

Thank you all;
I will go and check the power connection in the cars cage.
Cheers

The power cables with the orange stripe were made in house and prone to oddities. I would give that one a look.

Thanks Crash.
I have been able, after taking your advice and prior to inspecting the power, found that the MFX cards work. on their own in any slot in the cage.
One UFX did work in any slot, then it stopped, causing the fault (no audio, no surface. The second card isn't working and cause the error.
Another part I noticed is when the surface finishes booting and the Rude Solo Light is on, I can access the card in the Setup Tab, but an communication error comes up.
The other piece I have learned, only after leaving the console on for a spell, is the audio disappears from the inputs. A re-boot is necessary. No other faults seem to exist. Further observation is required it see for sure.
Very frustrating.
Perhaps a dismantle and cleaning may fix at least some of it. I have been very lucky in that way. I have never had to rip it apart and do this.
Any suggestions?
Thanks again
Bruce
