My d8b will be put back into the studio sometime soon, in some capacity. I decided not to sell it. I just couldn't do it. And besides, I wouldn't get what it's worth to me, which is much more than a money value. So, since I'm not going to sell it, I need to use it.

I'll probably need help from you guys to get it working again. Even though it was refurbished by S&X Audio right before going into storage, it kept dropping signal. I tried to get it back working a year or so ago but failed. I'll have more time this time.

I'm a little curious about this statement, Dan. Did S&X not fix it before storage? ...or was this something that happened after they refurbed it?

Reason I ask is, I'm considering taking mine in to them (I'm a few miles away) to track down a bad noise problem on Digi inputs 47/48.

Did they do the job right? Were they reasonable, price wise? Was the turn around time reasonable?

It's been at least two or two and a half (maybe even three) years since I sent it to them, so I really don't remember much.

1. I sent it in because it would drop signal. Out of nowhere it would just go silent.

2. It came back and was working great, for ten minutes, then no audio again.

3. It went back and they thought they found the problem, They were actually excited about finding it. That's when I decided to have it refurbished so that everything would be in great shape when it got back here. It was in good shape to begin with.

4. I got it back and it looked great, and it worked and sounded great, for about 20 minutes, then silence.

5. I put it in storage and have MITB ever since.

6.Took it out about a year ago and tried to use it. It worked great, for about 5 minutes. It went back into storage.

7. I'm going to give it another shot. If I can't get it to work this time, I'll go into storage.

I reckon it's those cables that run from the power distribution board at top left. Another jiggle etc. of those and you could be OK. It has to be heat related.

BTW, I've often thought of putting myself in storage. I'm paying more for that than rent at the moment.

Those darn connections have been jiggled and jostled and stomped on (:shock:) to no avail. I'm willing to give it another go, though. I'm not very good at repairing things. I get very frustrated and angry and I'm a bit of a klutz with my stiff, fumbling hands (I find it hard spreading peanut butter), so we'll see how it goes.
